Turn on your utilities in Surprise and the West Valley

By the end of this page you'll know who provides water, gas and electric at your new address, and how to start each one. Here's the honest catch up front: in the West Valley, your water company depends on your exact address, not just your city. Two homes in the same city can have different water providers.

Before you call

  • Have your closing date, your escrow or file number, and your title company's name. Several cities ask for them.
  • Call or apply 3 to 5 business days before you move in. Gas appointments can take longer to book.
  • Expect a deposit or setup fee with some providers. Ask when you call.
  • Not sure who serves your address? Check your closing paperwork, the seller's last bill, or your HOA. Or send me the address.

Electric: APS or SRP

Both serve parts of the West Valley. Surprise, Sun City, Sun City West and Buckeye are usually APS. Tolleson is SRP. Glendale, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear and west Phoenix are split, so look up your address.
